THE MAGIC OF CYANOTYPE AND THE POETRY OF MEMORY
An early photographic process, cyanotype brings light and matter into dialogue, leaving an almost unreal imprint upon paper. Shaped by time and exposure to light, the image slowly emerges, revealing the poetic trace of what once was.
In the hands of Nice-based artist Maxime Siau, cyanotype “marks the passage of time” and “captures an image of memory.” Each work is created by hand, through exposure to light and meticulous gestures. What gradually appears on the paper becomes a visible, delicate, and unpredictable trace, like a memory resurfacing.
Within these poetic blue images, we recognize the same evanescent beauty of memory that inhabits Blue Madeleine. Much like the famous madeleine of Marcel Proust, the fragrance reveals what time leaves behind through our memories. A taste, a scent, and suddenly the past unfolds, emotions rising once again.
Blue Madeleine expresses olfactory memory through a gourmand madeleine accord, enriched with notes of smoked tea and a hint of spices. A delicacy both refined and nostalgic.
Just as light reveals the imprint of an object through cyanotype, a fragrance can awaken memories and bring them vividly back into the present. Between art, memory, and emotion, this encounter with the world of Maxime Siau extends the poetry of remembrance that inspires Blue Madeleine.
